Dear Friends,
A complaint has been submitted to the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA) relating to allegations made against Archbishop Steve Wood in his role as Bishop of the Diocese of the Carolinas. In accordance with Canonical Law, as soon as the complaint is validated as a presentment, Bishop Ray Sutton, Dean of the ACNA’s College of Bishops, will convene a Board of Enquiry to consider whether it warrants further action.
Because this is an on-going process, the Wardens, Vestry, and Staff of St. Andrew’s cannot comment on these allegations. We will keep you informed as the process evolves. Steve said, “I do not believe these complaints have merit. I trust the process outlined in our canons to bring clarity and truth in these matters.”
We know the Washington Post is developing a story and we expect them to publish within the next few days. Many of you will recognize the people mentioned in the story as most of them are beloved former staff members of St. Andrew’s.
I commend all those involved—the complainants; Steve, Jacqui, and their family; our staff, and the Vestry—to your prayers. This is a painful and very personal process for all involved.
Yours in Christ,
Mike Hughes
