MINNESOTA: Orthodox Priest Rips Liberal Bishop and Resigns
Oct. 13, 2007
The Rt. Rev. James L. Jelinek
The Diocese of Minnesota
1730 Clifton Place Suite 201
Minneapolis, MN 55403
Dear Bishop Jelinek:
I am writing to you to inform you that I wish to retire from those who serve in active ministry in the Diocese of Minnesota. I also wish to be removed from the list of active supply clergy.
Just to be certain, I checked with the Church Pension Fund and found, as I already knew, that with no account I needed to take no action with them. They said that I only needed to contact you.
I really wish to be retired after the statement of the House of Bishops. To remain active in the face of this statement would have meant that I would have been in violation of I Timothy 5/ I already have enough of my own sins without having to condone sin and false doctrine in my work, such as it is.
I currently worship with a small group of like minded persons in relatively private circumstances. Because of impending moves and terminal disease that will probably not last.
I do regret that, from the day of your election, I have inspired some animus in you. That found its climax in the appointment of Lucy Thomas on the Enmegahbowh project. I have no idea how that would have been remedied. It is just too bad.
Very truly yours,
The Rev. Michael P. Forbes
