As the interview demonstrates, the ascending Primate of the Episcopal Church is a politician of rare polish. By comparison her predecessors are a dim bulb (in the case of Edmond Browning) and a clownish dancing bear (in the case of Frank Griswold). Schori is probably the only member of the HOB with gravitas and (in a word) star power.

November 02 2006 By virtueonline John Danforth's attack on Christians

Danforth says he remains a loyal Republican but believes GOP leaders should speak out against the religious right and move toward the center location from which it lost election after election in the past. "On a whole host of issues I would be with the Republicans," the senator maintained. "I just want them to disengage themselves from the Christian right."

October 26 2006 By virtueonline THE FUTURE OF ANGLICANISM - by Robert Duncan

I have been asked to speak about the future of Anglicanism. I gladly do so on this happy occasion and in this historic Chapel, a Chapel that has become very dear to me, and to countless others, whose spiritual lives have been profoundly shaped by its devotions and whose missionary and pastoral commitments have been fed by the heroes and heroines whose ministries founded and sustained this House and rightly earned it its simple nickname: "The Mission."

The sins Dr. Crouse mentions in her essay are as follows: teenage pregnancy, sex outside of marriage, abortion, drugs, unwed births, divorce, cohabitation, STD's, homosexuality, and the shooting of innocent school children. In her view, these evils are the results of a liberal onslaught carried out by the media, the universities, liberal think tanks, and by progressive humanist feminists.

Some in the senior leadership continue to cling to the view that if they hold on doggedly and keep the various conversations going, an accommodation will emerge which will enable things to continue much as they are, the product of inertia and a preference by most people for "unity" at almost any cost.

The seconder of this motion, Bishop Peter Tasker, and I are prepared to accept this amendment.
