Anglican Communion Network Officially Recognized by Williams

WOODBRIDGE, VA (4/2/2005)--The following statement was made by Archbishop Greg Venables on Saturday morning, 2 April 2005, during the ACN/AAC conference, "From Surviving to Thriving: Anglicans in the 21st Century," that was held at Hylton Chapel in Woodbridge, Virginia, USA.

"The Network is officially received and recognized by the Primates and by the Archbishop of Canterbury within the Anglican Communion, and you need to know that."

"When we were discussing all these things, I think it was the Wednesday at Dromantine, Rowan Williams raised his hand at some point and just said, very quietly and very clearly, 'the Network is a reality,' and that was it. In other words, Approval. Acceptance. And you need to know that; that that is real."

"And I just want to say publicly that our brother Bob [Duncan] here not only has our support but he has our admiration and our love for the position he has taken here in the United States."

Presiding Bishop Greg Venables is Archbishop of the Southern Cone.
