HOUSTON: Former Episcopal treasurer arrested
A statement released by the diocese last month said Null "misappropriated money from the diocese and concealed this fact, both from the diocese and its auditors, over a number of years."
The diocese announced it would order a special audit and turn the results over to the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

NEW JERSEY: Bishop Spong steps up fight against evangelism
Spong led the seven-county Diocese of Newark for 24 stormy years before retiring in 2000. He still lives in North Jersey, in a secluded Morris County neighborhood near the grounds of Greystone Hospital.
But he is everywhere these days, making roughly 250 public appearances a year. He has lectured from Alabama to Australia, sparred with Bill O'Reilly on Fox News and published tomes like "The Sins of Scripture - Exposing the Bible's Texts of Hate to Reveal the God of Love."

LONDON: 'Marriages' but no sex for gay clergy
Gay activists claim that more than 700 clergy are lining up to "marry" same-sex partners in a development that could increase strains within the Church over homosexuality.
According to insiders, they might include Dr Jeffrey John, the gay but celibate cleric who was forced to step down as Bishop of Reading in 2003 following a conservative backlash. Dr John is now Dean of St Albans.

Diocese of Fort Worth appeals to the Panel of Reference
Under the present canons, the Diocese of Fort Worth would not be able to proceed with the consecration of my successor (when that time comes) unless he agreed to the ordination of women as priests.
The Panel is asked to help find a way for the Diocese to remain a full member of the Anglican Communion, while maintaining the historic practice of the church catholic of a male priesthood.

LONDON: Gay clergy can 'marry' but no sex
The worldwide Anglican Communion is deeply divided over the issue of gay clergy and has been brought to the brink of schism over the election of its first openly gay bishop, the Right Rev Gene Robinson, in New Hampshire in the US.
The first civil partnership is expected to be registered in Brighton on December 21, involving a lesbian independent church minister, the Rev Debbie Gaston, and Elaine Cook.

CONNECTICUT: Bishop's attorney asked to withdraw Inhibition against Hansen
Father Hansen and the Bishop need not meet for that purpose, of course, but if a meeting is desired by the Bishop, then Father Hansen must be provided with a Consultant, at the expense of the Diocese, as required by canon law in such cases. Hopefully, that meeting will lead to a resolution of the sabbatical leave issue, as well, with Attorney Reeve's assistance.
