Top Five Church-Affiliated Events Coinciding with March for Life 2018

An increasing number of Protestants, alongside Catholics, are set to gather in Washington, D.C., January 18-20 for several church-affiliated events happening in conjunction with the official March for Life, the largest pro-life demonstration in the world.

These events aim to equip Christians to advance a pro-life witness, promote human dignity, and pray for an end to abortion.

Please consider participating in or prayerfully supporting one of the church-affiliated pro-life events below:

1.) Anglicans for Life Summit 2018: Mobilizing the Church for Life

Anglican leadership are hosting the third-annual Summit 2018: Mobilizing the Church for Life conference. The event is co-sponsored by Anglicans for Life and the Anglican Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic and will feature keynote speakers, workshops, prayer, and worship.

Speakers will include: Dcn. Georgette Forney, President of Anglicans for Life; Bishop John Guernsey; Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Vice President of Operation Rescue; Rev. Clenard Childress, founder and North-Eastern Director of BlackGenocide.org; Stephanie Gray, pro-life author and speaker; and David Bereit, author and former CEO of 40 Days for Life.

The all-day conference begins at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 18 at the Falls Church Anglican, in Falls Church, Virginia. On Friday, participants will gather at 9 a.m. for a morning prayer and worship service before departing for the official March for Life.

2.)Evangelicals for Life

To strengthen Evangelicals' pro-life witness at the March for Life, Focus on the Family and the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) are co-hosting their third-annual Evangelicals for Life conference on January 18-20 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C.

Keynote speakers will include ERLC President Dr. Russell Moore, Focus on the Family President Jim Daly, Disability Advocate Joni Eareckson Tada, World Vision USA President Rich Stearns, and more than 40 pro-life experts and advocates.

3.) United Methodist Pro-Life Service

Lifewatch, the unofficial pro-life caucus of the United Methodist Church, is hosting its annual prayer service at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19, in the chapel of the United Methodist Building located at 100 Maryland Avenue in Washington, D.C. The Rev. Dr. David F. Watson, professor of New Testament and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic Dean at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, will give the sermon.

4.) The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Service and Group March

Lutherans and other pro-life advocates are invited to join the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod for a Divine Service at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Virginia, on the morning of the March for Life. Service attendees are asked to arrive at 9 a.m. Afterwards, participants will depart for the National Mall to join the official March for Life rally.

If you are unable to attend the worship service, you may join the LCMS group for the rally and March. Meet at 11 a.m. at 12th Street and the National Mall near the Smithsonian American History Museum. Participants will be wearing green hats and holding Eyes for Life signs.

5.) Catholic National Prayer Vigil for Life

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., will host the annual all-night prayer vigil, sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Pro-Life Secretariat alongside Catholic University of America.

The vigil will include opening Mass lead by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Chairman of the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities, Confession, National Rosary for Life, Holy Hours for Life, prayer to end abortion, and closing Mass.

Opening Mass begins at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, in the Great Upper Church of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. For a complete schedule and logistical information, please visit www.usccb.org.
