The Archbishop of Wales and the Bishop of St Asaph will be among those attending a conference focusing on preserving the breadth of Anglicanism in Wales.

Entitled "That Nothing Be Lost -- Fel Na Choller Dim", the event is organised by Credo Cymru and will take place in Cardiff on 21 and 22 September. The thirty-five participants will include clergy and laity from Wales as well as seven members of the Church of England.

The conference follows the decision of the Governing Body to authorise the consecration of women as bishops in the Church in Wales. The organising committee says it hopes to bring together those who rejoice at this decision and those who are perturbed by it. The aim is to see how much common ground there is and to consider carefully what is required to enable people of differing convictions to feel secure and able to flourish within the Church in Wales.

Keynote speakers include the Bishop of St Asaph, Gregory Cameron, the Bishop of Gloucester, Rachel Treweek, and the Bishop of Ebbsfleet, Jonathan Goodall.

The conference is for invited participants only, but all are welcome to the Sung Eucharist which will be celebrated at St Martin's Church, Roath, Cardiff, on St Matthew's Day, Wednesday 21 September 2016, at 6.30pm. The preacher will be the Bishop of Burnley, Philip North.

The Revd Canon Jeffrey Gainer, Chairman of Credo Cymru, said, "We hope that a relaxed atmosphere will facilitate discernment of the way forward for us all, a way marked by charity and mutual respect. We all know that strong and clearly articulated theological convictions are involved here, but also the effectiveness of our Christian witness in dealing with differences."

Dr Morgan said, "When the Church in Wales ordained women priests and made it possible for women to be ordained bishops, it acknowledged that there was still a place in that church for those who, for whatever reason, found that difficult. Credo Cymru members belong to the Church in Wales and since I am the Archbishop of the whole of the Church in Wales, for that reason I accepted its invitation to attend."
