Two African Bishops Stress Seriousness of Sodomy

Two African prelates are issuing stark warnings about sodomy and same-sex unions.

Cardinal Robert Sarah of Guinea, current Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, says same-sex unions are a problem for all humanity, not just for Catholics.

In an interview for Italy's La Repubblica, he calls such unions, which are being promoted and normalized worldwide, "retrogressive for culture and civilization." So far, Cdl. Sarah notes, the movement hasn't caught on in Africa.

"No non-Western culture is moving in the direction of approving homosexual unions," he observes. "No one in African culture looks on this with approval because this is a union that is not open to life."

"Homosexual unions are completely against God's plan, which was to create man and woman who complement one another perfectly," says the cardinal. "And the family and the future of society comes from this [complementary, heterosexual] union. A homosexual union has no future, it does not create life."

Meanwhile, another African prelate, Bp. Joseph Osei-Bonsu of Konongo-Mampong in Ghana, is declaring that "those who endorse same-sex marriage politically, religiously or whatever are all guilty before God."

During an interview with a local radio station, he asserts, "Homosexuals, lesbians, liars and sex abusers are not going to go to Heaven, and the Bible categorically says that."

"It is no man saying that, or no bishop saying they will not go to Heaven," explains Bp. Osei-Bonsu, "it is the Bible that says that, so they will not go to Heaven."
