CANTERBURY: Lambeth Conference is Heavily in Debt. Crisis Looms

It's official. The Lambeth Conference is deeply in debt with a financial shortfall approaching $4 million dollars. Church officials are scrambling to find the money.

The Archbishop of Canterbury and the English bishops are ultimately accountable for finding the money. As of today, they don't have it. Media spokesperson Archbishop Philip Aspinall said a check for $100,000 had been received, but this is only the tip of what is needed if Anglican leaders want to hold off Bailiffs from Kent University appearing at their door looking for full payment.

Costs to bring the 600 bishops here from the four corners of the globe total $8.8 million plus travel costs. The Spouses conference is $2.4 million plus travel costs. There are 600 bursaries at $7,000 per head and more than half the money has yet to be raised to cover the full costs.

The speculation is that had the orthodox bishops come, they could have covered the costs quite easily, but as they are not in tune with the theological Lambeth mindset, and have voluntarily withdrawn themselves, the liberals are hard-pressed to come up with the cash.

Apparently, the American Episcopal Church has not been asked to cover the shortfall, and probably wouldn't, as the bishops here are angry at the non-invitation of V. Gene Robinson the homosexual Bishop of New Hampshire to the Lambeth Conference.

The Episcopal Church has only chipped $100,000, a source told VOL.

And so we come to it. The end game of the enemy has always been the destruction of the "Church". He'll settle for one branch at a time. Ecusa is miffed. They won't ante up. The Faithful are no longer called to ante up...least wise to this group. And so, dear ++Rowan.. you are left to twist... slowly twist in the wind.

Remember, eventually, the devil eats his own... all of them.

I hope Ruin and Katie get used to what debt is because empty pews will only cause more of it. They might just learn one more lesson from liberals in general - they are good at talking but have a lot of difficulty putting their hands in their pockets.

I would not want to bet against a lot of deals being proposed to TEc right now as trades for funding. Sure, Vicky is part of the package but William's open support of gay marriage has to be right in there - just look at his statements in the last day or two - the new ambiguity on this issue. Lack of censure for TEc has got to be there. Now if Katie could only find support for making herself "Pope".

Hey, I have an idea how they can raise the needed cash. These dudes like gambling with the truth of God. Why don't they take what cash they've got and get over to the nearest race track. If they pick the right jockey and horse, at say, 20 to 1 odds, they'd get a pretty good return on their money. A $100,000 bet should do it. I mean, they gamble with the souls of their followers, so why would betting on the ponies be any more risky in the eternal long run?

Hmmm....just two days ago, they needed $2 million, and now they need $4 million! What next....$6 million?

It looks to me like TEC is going to have to sell off some real estate in order to bail them out....which they probably won't do!

MORE money down the sewer if they do!

Sheesh!!

I never read of any debt problems at GAFCON. Can anybody guess where God is at work?

While I suspect that the money will be found - probably from the bank accounts of the long dear departed Episcopalians in the USA, this is but another indication of just how bad the situation has become. A church truly united would treat this as chump change.

Let's see the USA TEC bishops go back to their laity for a special contribution. The result would be most interesting.

Hey, this is serious! It suggests that the Communion that is bankrupt theologically is also bankrupt financially.

Call the mortgage brokers in TEC. Time for a subprime in the Bishop of NH's name!

Hey, I'll help, I've got 2 cents left after filling my gas tank; however, they'll have to send me overseas postage to get it. Sorry -- NOT!

I did a followup to this story, and I have called every Bank and Financial Institution on the East Coast of the USA.

I have good news to report. Not one of these institutions I surveyed has any Episcopal bishops on its board of directors.

The Lord Jesus gives, and He takes away. They have made money their god and it has failed them.
