ABUJA, NIGERIA: Anglican Gay Activist Wants To Stop Abuja's 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid

Gay activists in Nigeria are questioning whether Nigeria should be allowed to host the Commonwealth Games. A delegation led by Davis Mac-Iyalla, founder and leader of the Gay Christian group Changing Attitude Nigeria, an Anglican Church group which campaigns for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) human rights, presented the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) with an 11-page report setting out why it should reject's Abuja's 2014 Commonwealth Games bid.

Mac-Iyalla and Mike Hersee, both members of the organization, authored the report called Abuja's Bid - Sins of Omission.

Mike Hooper, Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Games Federation, agreed to present the report to the President of the Commonwealth Games Federation, Michael Fennell, later this month.

Mac-Iyalla said, "Homophobic discrimination violates one of the CGF's core values, equality. Unless Nigeria swiftly calls a halt to the victimization of LGBT people, Abuja should be ruled out of the running. In many Nigerian states the maximum penalty for sex between mutually consenting adult men in private is 14 years in prison. In states that have introduced Sharia law it is death by stoning.

"Violence against LGBT people in Nigeria has increased dramatically in the wake of attacks on gay people by the Anglican Church of Nigeria and attempts by the Nigerian government to introduce new anti-gay laws.

"The legislation would have banned same-sex marriage, gay organizations and churches, safer sex advice for gay men, and the advocacy of gay human rights. Backed by the Anglican Archbishop of Nigeria, Peter Akinola, the anti-gay bill only failed because it ran out of legislative time when the general election was called earlier this year.

"We fear the bill may be revived. Nigeria is a very threatening, intimidating place for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people", said Mac-Iyalla.

Hersee said there will be many lesbian and gay athletes, officials, spectators and reporters at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and he was concerned they could be at risk of arrest and violence if Abuja is the host city.

Gay and lesbian human rights group OutRage! is supporting Changing Attitude Nigeria. Peter Tatchell, spokesman for the group said, "we urge that Abuja is not accepted as the host city for the 2014 Commonwealth Games unless the state and federal government agree to improve Nigeria's human rights record, including an end to the state-sanctioned persecution of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Nigerians".

There they go again! Since these tactics have worked with such success in Europe and North America, why not use them in Nigeria also? And no holds barred; this is war!

Why in the world should one's sexual behavior become an issue in athletic competition? Obviously because they put their aberrant sexuality before any other social or moral consideration.

"Victimization of LGBT people"?? Folks, you will know what true 'victimization' is if and when these people gain control. Having debased themselves against God's order of nature, they will rest content only when not a single voice can be heard denouncing their sin. 'Toleration' and 'acceptance' is insufficient; only power to crush all opposition can begin--or so they think--to bring peace to their restless and troubled souls.

They are after your children. Remember Lot!

Homosexuals are predators. Since I was in college I have had to fight off homosexual advances (especially from a priest in the Roman Catholic Church, when I was an RC). Even though I made it very very clear that I am not gay and not interested, they continued to pursue me, in hopes of recruiting me into the lifestyle. Basically, this group is a very selfish group of people. They come in all ages and sizes, and are self absorbed with sinful lusts (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:27, I Corinthians 6:9)

Agreed! This has absolutely NOTHING to do with athletic competition! Changing Attitude just wants headlines....but they won't get the kind they're hoping for! Every time they open their mouths, they sink deeper and deeper into the cesspool they've dug for themselves, I'm afraid!

They need our prayers that God will show them the error of their ways.

Cennydd and others are quite correct!

Their minds have been turned over to their own depravities. Prayers for the release of the captives is VITAL. God loves their souls no less than anyone elses.

We MUST ernestly pray, firstly, for all that we know that are lost to same-sex depravity. Next, for general prayers that the strong man would be tied up so that the Spirit of the living God in Christ Jesus may soften hearts and convict sin.

Then, a prayer for those lost to the addictive throws of heterosexual sinfulness.

If after reading this, you make this a "daily office" of prayer, then LIVES WILL CHANGE.

And I will add:

THANKS BE TO GOD!!

It sickens me that the sodomites have ruined the word gay. It used to mean something happy. It really sickens me that they use the rainbow as their symbol because it's a covenant from God which they are mocking and over the rainbow, there are just more sodomites. Certainly not the picture Judy Garland paints in the song. Of course, they all love her. YUCK!

As far as the perpetual onslaught of gaydom, I knew a guy where I worked in Atlanta who caught the fancy of this sodomite and he hopelessly mooned around after him, told the whole office he was in love with this guy who was totally straight and I think married even. He was just sickening and relentless in his pursuit and would tell people exactly what he wanted to do with this guy in no uncertain terms. These days, that would be considered sexual harrassment and he would be fired but this was back in the 80's and it was Atlanta which might as well be San Francisco.

They want everybody to be gay. They start so many rumors about famous people all the time. It's just wrong. Go back in the closet and shut the door.

Ikerliker,

With satan at the helm, they will create a 'New Sodom'.

What frightens me about the Genesis account is the description of "all of the men" of Sodom.

"Just who is this foreigner that thinks he can tell US what to do!"

O Lord, deliver us!

You see, this is exactly part of what the Primate was talking about; "They had us as human slaves, political slaves and economic slaves. They want to come for spiritual slaves. Now we won't accept it."

You see, Nigerians are not the one doing this; this is the handwork of the Westerners; of course, some 419 people that are looking for money anyhow in Nigeria will be able to make a living from this from the Westernizes.
The Westerners sees nothing wrong in banning polygamy; the issue of human right dose not arrive on this; but they are dictating to us what to do in Nigeria.
By His grace, they will not succeed in making Nigeria ungodly Country
