UGANDA: Orombi decries homosexuality

THE head of the Church of Uganda, the Rt. Rev. Henry Luke Orombi, has warned Christians against practising lesbianism and homosexuality lest they attract God's wrath.

Orombi said the acts, which are getting rooted into the Ugandan society, violate God's purpose for marriage.

"People have abandoned relationships with the opposite sex. One wonders whether God was stupid to create Eve for Adam. Why isn't Eve beautiful any more? Eve is going out with Eve and Adam with Adam," Orombi lamented.

He was preaching at Iyolwa sub-county in Tororo on Friday during a one-week tour of Bukedi Diocese. The diocese covers Busia, Pallisa, Butaleja, Tororo and Budaka districts.

He said it was a shame that lesbians and homosexuals in Uganda had become bold enough to demand constitutional rights.

He added that just like the Biblical cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were razed to ashes, God would not let this sin go unpunished. He also expressed concern over the growing sexual immorality among married couples.

While commissioning a seven-classroom block at Papoli Primary School in Tororo, Orombi decried the poor spirit of giving among Christians.

"When it is time for offertory, Christians are selective. A person pulls out the wallet and sifts through bank notes of sh50,000, sh20,000 and sh10,000 till he finds a sh1,000 note for the basket. The big notes are usually for personal budgets."

He said it was the Christians' duty to cater for the welfare of church leaders. "God will not rain manna from heaven again. It is right there with you. God's messengers have families, they need to pay school fees and we need to dress decently because we are marketers of the Lord Jesus Christ."

The Adhola Paramount Chief, Moses Owor, urged Christians to promote unity. He said despite the various sects, Christians are united in salvation, baptism and God.

Another one issue (homosexuality) pseudo-orthodox bishop.

His heretical WO policy violating Scripture and Tradition do not even register with him.

How sad.

Keble, may I suggest you take this up with the archbishop personally? Rants like this are getting tiresome, and they serve no useful purpose, except for venting one's spleen.

Perhaps two issues, according to this short offering. I included a link to the official church website, above, for a sense of 'orientation'. Archbishop Orombi may find himself amid a firestorm of controversy over his remarks. It is a pity that we are given no other information than these few swipes at his recent preaching. This disjointed piece smells of heavy lib bias.

Here is a relavent VOL piece from December:

Keble, I agree with you--guys like this and the one from nigeria need to cleanup their own backyard before telling us what to do.

Cennydd,

What I find really tiresome is the pseudo-orthodox rant that amounts to nothing more than "your heresy is worse than my heresy."

Both WO and homosexual clergy/bishops violate Scripture and Tradition. Somehow, neither the Orthodox Church of the East nor Rome in the West have promulgated these Anglican deviations or have been "prompted by the Holy Spirit" to adopt these ungodly innovations.

It is my deepest prayer that these pseudo-orthodox repent from their heresy and return to the faith once delivered to the saints.

I take no joy in their apostacy, rather, I weep.

Oregonb,
It is part of a bishop’s job to tell us to do the right thing.
Those bishops are helping to protect me from those who would tell me that I must change my faith.
And, they are trying to clean up their own backyards. We, on the other hand, have inherited a very nice back yard and are not doing such a good job of keeping it clean.

Keble,
What is a WO policy?

I remain sincerely yours
Sherman

I agree that ++Orombi has some "cleaning up" to do in his own back yard, but then again, don't we all, to some extent? Are there any among us who don't need to do a bit of "cleaning up?"

WO is the VirtueOnLine abbreviation for Women's Ordination.

Orombi is one of the few African bishops to ordain women to Holy Orders, a policy that most of the worldwide Eastern/Western Churches view as violating 2000 years of church tradition in favor of political correctness.

Hope this helps.

In the realms of biblical history and authority, we ALL have some cleaning up to do.

That includes hypocrisy, and a stroll through the 10 Commandments should help bring clarity.
