THE GREAT ANGLICAN REALIGNMENT

COMMENTARY

By David W. Virtue

Sept 24, 2009

The time is fast approaching, and might well be upon us, when we who are faithful to the gospel and Holy Scripture will thank Bishop V. Gene Robinson for what he has achieved.

No bishop, priest or lay person has galvanized a church more in six years than this one man. As a practicing homosexual and a bishop he has brought clarity like no other person. It has been a singular and remarkable achievement, recognized not just by Episcopalians and Anglicans around the world, but by other denominations of various liberal stripes. A sitting president of the United States included Robinson in inauguration ceremonies.

The homo-genital bishop of New Hampshire has brought clarity to the world stage of Anglicanism that is breath taking in its breadth and magnitude.

He has been so successful that he has, almost single-handedly, divided the Anglican Communion. He has forced the Archbishop of Canterbury into a corner from which there seems little way out except to offer a "two-track" solution that might, at the end of the day, be no solution at all. The Windsor Report is dead. A Covenant seems less likely as the months pass with few agreeing on its content. Any attempts at discipline of the errant bishop and his denomination are met with ridicule and scorn.

It is any wonder that the pansexual organization Integrity ran up the flag declaring General Convention 2009 a victory for all things sexual? "Integrity Celebrates Virtual Clean Sweep on GC2009 Legislative Agenda" http://tinyurl.com/m72qma Heterosexual sex within the confines of marriage between a man and a woman is officially dead or at least just one option among many. The new sexual order is lesbi/gay, bi-sexual and transgender.

The Episcopal Church is now officially the "Gay Church" of America and we have Gene Robinson to thank for this. While there have been other notable homosexuals in secular literature and politics, and not a few Episcopal bishops, priests and laity, it took "courage" for Robinson to out himself and make it all official.

He has enshrined narcissism as acceptable, whining in public lectures and books while daring anyone to defy him on his personal behavior. He has caused bishops and prelates to cower before him groveling in mortification at their failure to behold his superior sexuality. Mea culpa, mea culpa mea maxima culpa.

He has gone where no bishop has gone before and he has done it with the surety that he will, in the end, win the culture wars.

His was not a Calvary Road, however, only the faux crucifixion on the Phallic Cross of his own desires wrapped tightly in the condoms of prevention.

There are no nail-pierced hands or "riven side flowing with blood" on which to gaze in awe causing sinners to sink to their knees in adoration, confession and repentance. The new sexual cross of personal fulfillment will have none of it.

We must all now bow before Robinson who has brought sexual enlightenment to the masses, especially Episcopalians, defying 7000 years of Scripture, theology and history. Fiat Lux.

And so the Great Realignment has begun, thanks to Bishop Robinson.

Who would have thought that a 'mere bishop' from Pittsburgh could galvanize 28 ecclesiastical jurisdictions and 100,000 Anglican souls, more bent on arguing with each other over such weighty issues as women's ordination, sacramental theology and more, into forming a new province in the Anglican Communion? Such a thing, should you have mentioned it in 2003, would have seen you laughed out of court. (The St. Louis Convention brought about 58 Anglican subdivisions). Not this time. Robinson has made the impossible, possible.

It is not just the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) that is now a reality. We have GAFCON and the growing Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans spreading like wild fire across the globe defying the old order, holding conventions, and declaring the faith and true Anglican Way.

None of this would have happened without Gene Robinson. He has been the catalyst for change. This sort of action has not been seen since Henry VIII divorced his wife, married a strumpet and then beheaded her.

In the end we will thank Robinson in much the same way we thank the Borgia Popes for giving us Martin Luther who brought the Reformation gospel of God's free grace to us all. It is clear that the Protestant movement was not simply the result of (only) Leo X. Its roots can be found in the extreme corruption, violence and perversion of faith in the Borgia period.

So too with Robinson. Sexual liberation has brought about a swath of death and destruction in the lives of millions of Americans dating back from the Sixties.

No matter, Robinson has legitimized it all, bringing "freedom" and "hope" to persons caught in the downward spiral of self-loathing and hatred. With drugs, death may now be delayed indefinitely.

Robinson has "won" and so the Grand Realignment of the Anglican Communion has started.

Thank you Bishop Robinson.

OK, David. I really did not need that visualization!

Peace and Blessings!

Don't you think more "blame" should be laid at the feet of the orthodox believers who did not take a stand against all this sooner? Surely much of the blame lies with Robinson’s sinfully corrupt mind, but it also lies with all the people that voted for the man and did not stand up to deny him and take a stand for the truth of the Gospel.

I'm afraid it's not that simple. I've been around a long time and I can tell you that conservatives have been peeling off this denomination in droves for fifty years. I don't know how many white southern Episcopalians I saw leaving the church in the 1960's saying the same thing, in different words ("Im not prejudiced, but..."). Then came the trial liturgy. Then came women priests, women bishops. The fundamental issue is not homosexuality. It's about how we address the changing contexts of modern American society. To borrow Bp. Lawrence's favorite phrase, the church has moved to indiscriminate inclusivity while the conservatives hold to discriminate inclusivity.

 Re: THE GREAT ANGLICAN REALIGNMENT
I am grateful to JESUS CHRIST first and foremost, but frequently I look back to 2003, & recognize that VG. Robinson was the catalyst or more precisely, The Straw that Broke the Camels Back for me and my family.

Quite simply, when he became Bishop, I knew the writing was on the wall, I knew that there were no more guarantees about who would fill the recent vacancy for High School Youth Pastor at our Episcopal Church. It was one thing for me to remain among a majority of Un-believers, I was determined to be a "Light". But how could I in good conscience subject my teenage boys to the Unknown?

Along those same lines, I still pray in Thanksgiving, for my litigeous neighbor , who around the same time, helped me & my husband, turn from disobedience to Obedience, from arrogance to humility. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Given a chance to change the past, I would Not do it, not for Anything, nor any Amount --Ever.

Excellent article.

We are where we are. Time to move forward.
Realignment is taking place worldwide in many venues.

Thank you, Robinson et al.
Seems you are accomplishing the Lord's Will; but not in the way you so arrogantly think you are.

 Re: THE GREAT ANGLICAN REALIGNMENT
I would be really curious to know what people here think the Anglican Church Of Canada will do at it's next national synod in 2010 with regard to same sex blessings.

Will they approve of such blessings and really shake things up?

Or will they again say no to them, as they did a few years ago?

 Re: THE GREAT ANGLICAN REALIGNMENT
I am encouraged once again on how God use all things for his glory even sodomite adulterers such as Robinson and his ilke who by rejecting God's word reject God.

God is sovereign victory will always be his!

When Gene sided with God rejecting atheists such as Ian McCellan and Stonewall, choosing to stand against his christian bretheren to forward his cause, he has clearly put his own desires before that of the church. He has and continues to hold court with a hungry secular press, who are nothing more than gossips on an industrial scale.

We are called to take up the cross and follow our Lord, to die to self, to die to personal ambition and desires and give ourselves entirely to God.

To accomodate his lusts he has attempted to redefine what sin is.

Sin is falling short of the Glory of God, quite clearly sodomy falls short as outlined in scripture, along with other sins such as theft, adultery, bearing false witness...

I have yet to see a theif or adulterer stand up and declare what they are doing is not wrong is not sinful, the most hardened thief or adulterer know they are wrong and with God's grace will someday be brought to a place of repentence. Genes theology leaves no room for repentence, no room for salvation.

Lets remember that Gene is not only a sodomite but also an adulterer, remember he left his wife and children to indulge his perverse lusts.

That man should not be in any form of church leadership let alone a bishop. The scriptures are very clear that church leadership is reserved for those beyond reproach.

Gene you foolish prideful man, if only you read God's holy word you would see that your efforts are futile, God will take your pitiful worldly acheivements and use them for his Glory. Gene can drape himself in all manner of ecclesiastical costumes and hold his blasphemous sodomite 'love ins' in church buildings, but it becomes only theatre, devoid of any sincerity or truth.

 Re: THE GREAT ANGLICAN REALIGNMENT
I remember serving as a clerical deputy to General Convention in 1991 from a predominantly conservative diocese. When it became crystal clear that there were "two religions" operating in one church, focused on the sexuality issue, I asked a room packed with our delegation, "What are you going to say about this?" The blank eyes staring back at me spoke volumes. After all, they had their ecclesiastical careers to protect or they secretly thought everything was peachy keen with them.

But to look at this another way, God wins in the end. What they meant for evil, God meant for good and much good will emerge from all this.

The transformation is now complete. Forty years from Orthodoxy to a rapidly shrinking homosexual cult.

The name of the road is unimportant, but we can all agree on one thing, it is the wrong road. In defense of the orthodox who seemingly did nothing for many conventions and let all this mess happen, they were deceived/lied to by their own bishops.

VGR doesn't think that he is working against the Bible to create confusion in the church. Well, he will find out much more when he is standing before God to answer for his life.

Yes, David, you have hit the nail on the thumb! God has a way of separating the sheep from the goats. Thinking back to Elijah the Tishbite and his flight to escape the clutches of Jezebel. To wit: (1 Kings 19:14 KJV)

Yes, things looked pretty dim for Elijah, but then we have: (1 Kings 19:15-18 KJV)

Not a pretty sight! So, that is what we have here, not a pretty sight.

------------------
Mild Literary Criticism: the alliteration is a bit much: that is breath taking in its breadth and magnitude. I would suggest something on the order of that is breathtaking in its width and magnitude.

This line, however, makes up for the above: His was not a Calvary Road, however, only the faux crucifixion on the Phallic Cross of his own desires wrapped tightly in the condoms of prevention. A bit too graphic for some, but clearly, David, you can turn a phrase. Thanks, I needed that!

The greater sadness is that poor gene knows he has no place in Christianity and holds on like his master. Both knowing they have but a short time and determined to take as many down with them as they can.
O Great God of all and every thing, send to our hearts a softening that our Love might cause us to seek in prayer your Hand that this sadness may find repentence in the Truth that is Christ Jesus.
Amen?

Quote: "There are no nail-pierced hands or "riven side flowing with blood" on which to gaze in awe causing sinners to sink to their knees in adoration, confession and repentance. The new sexual cross of personal fulfillment will have none of it."

This is where the word inclusiveness really comes in to play. Its interpretation is broad in orientation and intended to cover all possibilities.” This is designed for those that want respectability, acceptance, and don’t care about change in the social order of the church as they come and go each week to services. They are happy and the Church is crumbling around them, but at least they get what they perceive as Christianity, even if it means destroying the rest of the church. When one church falls by the way side, they just move to another one and are equally happy at the new one. Now it is evident that most denominations have one church for straight and one for the other classes of people that practice, “whatever”.

But you that are true lovers of Christ read this again: Revelation 3:15-16NKJV, I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

God awaits your decision!!!
