The Rev. William Ilgenfritz a national leader among traditionalist Episcopalians has been nominated to be a bishop for Forward in Faith North America. A time for the consecration has yet to be set.

"My name was put forward at the recent Nineteenth Annual Assembly of Forward in Faith North America at the National Shrine of our Lady of the Snows Conference Center in Belleville, Illinois in June," Ilgenfritz told VirtueOnline.

Ilgenfritz has been the rector of St. Mary’s in Charleroi, PA, in the Diocese of Pittsburgh since November 2004.

"It is now in the hands of the Primates," Ilgenfritz told VirtueOnline. "It could be by one of the African jurisdictions that consecrates me, but nothing has been decided."

Bishop Keith Ackerman (Diocese of Quincy) wrote VOL to say that Ilgenfritz's name was put forward in 2002 along with that of the Rev. David Moyer. (He was later consecrated a bishop with the Traditional Anglican Communion)."FiFNA has never removed the name. It appears that there may now be a Primate who would be willing to consecrate him. However we do not know when or where."

His consecration will follow other recent well reported on bishop elects, including the Rev. John Guernsey who will be consecrated by Ugandan archbishop the Most Rev. Henry Luke Orombi. He will over see 26 Ugandan parishes in North America.

Canon Bill Atwood will be consecrated by Archbishop Benjamin Nzimbi to oversee 20 parishes for the Province of Kenya in the U.S.
